Renowned Nigerian Photographer Visits Zambia to St Renowned Nigerian Photographer Visits Zambia to Strengthen Creative Partnerships

Acclaimed Nigerian photographer Kola Oshalusi @kolaoshalusi is in Zambia for the first time to build strategic partnerships within Africa’s creative sector.

His visit supports collaboration between the National Association of Media Arts (NAMA), an affiliate of the National Arts Council of Zambia, and Africa Creative Market — a continental platform focused on growing Africa’s creative economy.

On 25 February, Oshalusi met with filmmakers and photographers in Makeni, Lusaka, at an interactive session hosted by SFE Productions. Creatives from different levels gathered for a powerful discussion themed The Business of Photography.

He emphasised treating photography not only as an art form but as a sustainable business — grounded in strategy, financial discipline and long-term growth. He also encouraged creatives to explore new niches, strengthen their personal branding and position themselves for corporate partnerships.

Zambia will host the next Africa Creative Market in June 2026, with Lusaka confirmed as a host city — marking a major opportunity for the country’s growing creative sector.

Proud to have been part of today’s pedestrian sa Proud to have been part of today’s pedestrian safety engagement at UNZA Great East Road with Safe Strides Initiative, the Road Transport & Safety Agency (RTSA) and other stakeholders.

As Media Director for Traffic Desk, moments like this remind me why road safety advocacy matters. Too many preventable crashes are happening, and sometimes the simple act of using a footbridge can save a life.

Repost from the photography work I did for the Glo Repost from the photography work I did for the Global Fund:

———
Lucy Muzia was a science teacher until she discovered entomological surveillance in 2008. She volunteered to help establish the country’s first mosquito colony, laying the foundation for Zambia’s first insectary at the National Malaria Elimination Centre.

Today, Lucy plays a key role in training health workers to collect mosquito samples and conducting insecticide-resistance tests. Her surveillance work has become even more critical as extreme droughts and erratic rains undermine Zambia’s malaria response, extending transmission periods and weakening immunity through food insecurity.

In response to surging malaria cases, Zambia implemented its first digitalized mass mosquito net campaign in 2023, supported by the @GlobalFund. The campaign contributed to a 17% decline in malaria cases in 2024, showing how Lucy’s surveillance work helps adapt malaria control strategies as the disease evolves.
Grateful for an incredible filming experience in L Grateful for an incredible filming experience in Lubumbashi and the surrounding communities. Thanks to the amazing team who worked tirelessly throughout the long filming days and travels. Even more grateful for the people, the warmth and the culture that welcomed me so openly.

This was more than just a shoot — it was a shared experience and a reminder of how deeply connected we are beyond borders.

As a photographer, moments like this feel like quiet affirmations — that our cities, our stories and our people deserve space on global platforms, and that African narratives can travel far beyond our borders.

One of my highlights from 2025 was FINALLY meeting One of my highlights from 2025 was FINALLY meeting Brian and Shanice in person.

We first connected earlier in the year over a shared vision and conversations about potential collaborative work in Zambia. Many emails, calls and ideas later, this moment felt long overdue!

Brian and Shanice are doing some amazing work through their media agency, LightBulb Media Consultancy in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

Grateful for the internet that makes these connections possible and even more grateful when they turn into real conversations, real friendships and real possibilities. Here’s to collaboration across borders and to the work still to come 🥂 🇿🇲 | 🇸🇱

Grateful for the trust placed in me to tell stories that matter. Grateful for the moments that challenge me, humble me and reconnect me to our shared humanity.

This work has taken me across borders and into communities I might never have known otherwise. It has taught me to listen more, judge less and always remember that storytelling, at its best, is an act of service.

Here’s to another year of learning, bearing witness and telling stories with purpose 🙏🏾
